Target ads by placement or referring URL

You can target any individual ad with URLs. This is useful when you have only want few serving code while limiting the ad from serving if the visitor is in another part of the site. For example: your site has 2 main sections: example.com/Travel/ and example.com/Music/. One serving code is placed in both sections. The zone links to both travel and music ads. To restrict travel ads from displaying in music ads, you can put a placement URL restriction on the travel ads:
  • Click on the ad name to get into the editing page
  • Click on Restrictions tab, click on Add
  • Choose the restriction type: Placement URL
  • Choose Don't Show mode
  • Type in a path that is unique for this section, in our example: example.com/Music/
  • Save the restriction and it won't be showed to visitors when they're in the music section
You can also do the same targeting for referring URLs, the page where visitors come from.
