What is the serving code?

Serving code (ad tag) is a small piece of HTML code to put into your web pages where you want to display ads.

The serving code looks something like this:

There are two types of serving code. You can get the serving code for each zone or for each ad:

  • Zone: rotate ads within this zone, or
  • Ad: no rotation, always display this particular ad

Generate the Serving Code

  • Sign into your account, follow the menu Ads/All or Zones/All
  • Click on an ad or a zone name
  • Click on the Serving Code tab. On this page, you can change serving settings and the serving code will be automatically updated.

The advanced settings will help you set up the Serving Spot Number, Number of Ads, Reload ad automatically after a number of seconds, SSL Security, and Custom Parameters.

JavaScript ad tags will be loaded in sequence with the web page's HTML code while IFrame ad tags will be loaded independently (or in parallel) with the rest of the page.

Email Ad Serving

For email ad serving, most email clients do not allow <script> or <iframe>, and also disable cookie. This prevents ad rotation functionality. Therefore, you cannot use the serving code for zone, it is only available for individual ads. You can track impression and click for any specific ad in an email ad serving.

You can use one serving code to serve ads of any dimension and mixing multiple ad dimensions together. Press Ctrl/Command key and select the dimension(s). Text link ads can be mixed with image ads.
